Who We Are

CARIE is the Center for Advocacy for the Rights and Interests of Elders. CARIE has been a leading voice for older adults since 1977 and is there for older adults to help them understand and navigate this ever more difficult system of services, and to help make a system that is more responsive to the needs of those who use it. Through its Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) program, CARIE is physically present in Allegheny County and the surrounding communities, and CARIE continues to advocate for older adults, families, and caregivers in the region on a systemic level.

What We Do

As a leading advocate in aging, CARIE’s work advances the health, safety, and dignity of older adults from all socioeconomic, racial, and cultural backgrounds. CARIE seeks to promote the well-being, rights, and autonomy of older adults through advocacy, education, and action.
