Who We Are

Shepherd’s Heart Fellowship is an Anglican Church and a 501(c)3 that provides comprehensive services to those who are homeless (or nearly homeless) and vulnerable, especially Veterans and the elderly. SHF’s mission is to share the heart of Jesus, our Shepherd, on the streets of Pittsburgh and to the ends of the earth.

What We Do

SHF’s goal is to demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ by providing the following programs and services:

Shepherd’s Heart Veteran’s Home (“House of Hope”), where 15 formerly homeless veterans receive transitional housing, with a strong rehabilitation component with counseling in case work; education, and training; food; transportation; and more for 4 to 6 months until they overcome obstacles in our graduated into independent living.

Drop-In Center (“Shepherd’s Place”), we are adults who are hungry, homeless, or nearly homeless, poor, and or addicted. Come each morning with 30 to 90 people served five days a week, participants receive breakfast, counseling, encouragement, and love. They are given the opportunity to take showers, wash their clothes, receive information and referral, and be connected to a caring community.

Our Food Pantry offers nonperishable food items, and prepared food items to 1,400 individuals and families annually.

Our Resource Center provides blankets, coats, shoes, underwear, other clothing, and toiletries for 1,200 families and individuals annually.

Our Shuttle Bus Service provides approximately 250 annual trips, primarily to Oakland, North Side, Hill, District, and Downtown for appointments with VA offices, parole offices, medical and mental health clinics, employment centers, welfare offices, and much more. The Shuttle Bus is also used to help Veterans move from SHF’s to independent housing; to help transport food, and other supplies to needy Neighbors; into support Neighbors, an emergency situations.

Our Emergency Fund supports our Neighbors with gift cards for groceries, gasoline, fast, food, cleaning supplies, basic clothing needs, and much more. SHF also helps, when we can, with rent, utilities, and other basic needs to help 1) prevent our Neighbors from slipping back into homelessness, or 2) to provide comfort and encouragement to Neighbors in crisis, who lack basic needs.

Our goal for each of these programs is always to serve our vulnerable Neighbors at the point of me, to increase awareness of our services among the homeless adults of Pittsburgh, and to share Jesus with our Neighbors, especially Veterans, and those who are elderly.
