Volunteer: Water Trail Care Thursday – Sewickley

Join us at the Sewickley Launch on the Ohio River section of the Three Rivers Water Trail for a river-based Water Trail Care Thursday opportunity!


Volunteers will:

Launch from Chestnut Street Launch and paddle upriverVolunteers will collect trash along the way, docking on the riverbanks where we can to get out and collect trash


Registration is limited to 12 participants total; if you have your own vessel (kayak or canoe), we encourage you to bring it. We have 12 available seats in the Friends fleet in a kayak or canoe for those that do not have their own. Previous paddling experience recommended. If you are a beginner or have never paddled before, please email Ashley Martin at ashley@friendsoftheriverfront.org and we can discuss!


Please wear sturdy close-toed shoes, long pants, and layered sleeves to be removed. Monitor the forecast and dress for the weather, we will work through light to moderate rain. Bring a reusable water bottle, water refills will be available. All other project supplies and equipment will be provided.


Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email. An additional email will be sent the day prior to the workday with project details and what to expect; registration after 12:00 pm will not receive the details email.

Join us on the Duck Hollow section of the Three Rivers Heritage & Water Trail for Trail Care Saturday!


Friends of the Riverfront joins Allegheny CleanWays (ACW) for a day of volunteering on the Three Rivers Heritage & Water Trail.


Volunteers will be split into two groups. Land based work will be lead by Friends including undesired vegetation removal, tree tending, litter pickup, and other trail maintenance needs. Water based work will be lead by ACW including collecting litter that has accumulated along the riverfront of the Monongahela River. Volunteers will have the opportunity to participate in both land and water based work.


Please wear sturdy shoes, long pants, and layered sleeves to be removed. We recommend that you bring a reusable water bottle, and a change of clothes and shoes for the ride home – participants may get wet/muddy. All other project supplies and equipment for land and river based work will be provided.
