Each semester, we recruit a Program & Events intern to assist with the implementation and evaluation of JASP programming, from small member events to major fundraisers. As an intern, you will play an active role in the support of our various programs, present research to the Executive Director, and help with daily office tasks.
This opportunity is mainly geared towards college students, but adults with daytime availability and interest are also encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
· Assist with event planning and organization;
· Support communication efforts on social and traditional media;
· Attend events and uphold a professional and enthusiastic image for the JASP;
· Succinctly summarize events, programs, and meetings;
· Ensure complete wrap-up of events including updating event handbook;
· Share ideas, ask questions, and offer suggestions during Committee meetings;
· Develop office etiquette and skills (telephone, emails, meetings);
· Build relationships and trust with stakeholders.
Qualifications:
· Must have proficiency with MS Office Suite;
· Must be self-motivated and willing to ask questions;
· Ability to accomplish tasks in a timely manner and work as a team;
· Strong communication and research skills;
· Japanese fluency not a requirement to apply but a plus;
· Interest in Japan and bridging cross-cultural communication;
· Interest in non-profit management and grant research.
Educational Benefits: Students will gain the experience of working in a professional setting, while interacting with various stakeholders within the community. Students will also be exposed to the day-to-day workings of a non-profit organization. Through participation in JASP events, interns have the opportunity to meet and network with high-level business professionals and local community members. Depending on the student’s career path, tasks and projects can be catered to the student’s abilities and own professional development goals.
