NOTE: You can choose a morning shift, afternoon shift, or stay the entire day. You can also make a note about what times you can be there.
We offer a food distribution location through Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank on the 2nd Friday of each month. It is organized by Save a Life Today Pittsburgh, and supported by the First UP Church of Crafton Heights. We serve around 200 families every time, and do not require any proof of income, address, status, or association. Recipients come away with meat, milk, eggs, fresh fruits & vegetables, pantry items and more.
MORNING: The food truck arrives around 7:30 am. Volunteers will unload all of the food and then help sort it into boxes. The doors open to recipients around 10:30 am. We keep the line moving smoothly when there are plenty of volunteers to help people get their food out to their cars.
AFTERNOON: You will continue helping people get their boxes to their cars. You can also relieve some of the workers who have been standing all morning. The food is usually gone by 1:00 pm, and then there is a lot of clean up to do.
Thank you for considering us for your volunteer work!
