Volunteer: Childcare SupportMission: Sojourner House and Sojourner House MOMS (Mentoring, Opportunity, Motivation, Spirituality) provide compassionate, faith-based residential recovery services to mothers and children in the Pittsburgh area. We help mothers with substance use disorder learn to break the intergenerational cycle of poverty and substance use while rebuilding damaged relationships with their children. Sojourner House believes women can build a brighter future when surrounded by what means most to them: their children. Volunteer Need: We are seeking individuals to assist with childcare in our residential treatment building while their mothers are participating in group therapy, classes, and other therapeutic activities. Scheduling: The greatest need for childcare support is during recurring classes and activities. These generally occur between 10am-11am, 12pm-1pm, and 4pm-7pm, but if you are interested in helping with childcare, let us know and we will work with you to find a time that fits for your schedule! The Victorian Tea is a celebratory afternoon with traditional "High Tea" attire and fare, socializing, and fundraising activities. We are looking for volunteers to join the planning committee for this year's event. Responsibilities at our residential treatment program include sorting and organizing donations, inventorying and restocking apartment supplies, assembling grab-bags for new intakes, and more. This role offers an opportunity to develop organizational and communication skills while making a positive impact in our community. Some technology or comfort with using technology is preferred but we do have other projects that do not require technology. Scheduling: Anytime between 8:30 to 4:30 Monday through Friday.
