Get Ready for the Summer at Guyasuta, a summer camp for kids of all abilities. Volunteers will complete a variety of camp improvements including painting, splitting logs with gas log splitter, trail work, landscaping, cleaning buildings, and build 6 much needed picnic tables for campers.

Volunteers will venture onto the river in Allegheny Cleanways’ boat named the Rachel Carson and will be dropped off at various locations along the shoreline to collect debris affecting our waterways. Location: South Side

HEARTH is a transitional housing program for moms and children who are rebuilding after homelessness and domestic violence. The moms at HEARTH need help removing mattresses they physically cannot move themselves. We need some strong people to toss 10 mattresses into a dumpster, organize the newly cleaned out storage area and pick up litter around campus. Location: Glenshaw

Make a meal, beautify the grounds, and assemble activity bags for families staying at Family House, an organization which provides respite housing for families with loved ones in hospital care in the Pittsburgh area. Location: Bloomfield/Friendship

Volunteers will be working at The Blessing Board to help families come in to receive furniture. Alongside that, volunteers will be helping to sort donations and preparing items for families, so there are meaningful opportunities for everyone to be involved. We will be loading cars, meeting clients, sorting and cleaning donations. Location: Shaler

We will work in Millvale Community Park to dig out terraces for a sensory seating area, construct an area for a future slide, level out an entrance and walkways for wheelchair accessibility, and build some small play elements until the larger park equipment is installed in 2027. Volunteers will also help set up for the Millvale Music Festival which starts that evening! Location: Millvale

Volunteers will help sort and organize incoming donated items to help supply the Light of Life Free Store to help transform the lives of men, women and children in need. Location: North Side

Join us at the Kayak Pittsburgh boathouse at North Park, where we will organize kayaks and gear, inspect safety equipment such as helmets and life vests, and maintain the boathouse and grounds. Location: North Park

Volunteers will work alongside some of the students from AEO’s Big Brothers Big Sisters Workplace Mentoring program to beautify the school grounds by repainting existing sidewalk murals, creating some new sidewalk murals, and light landscaping. This project involves paint and getting dirty! Location: Arlington (minutes from 77 Hot Metal)

Foster children often arrive with a few belongings in a trash bag. Foster Love Project provides love and supplies for children and the families who foster them. We will sort and organize donated clothing and supplies. Location: Wilkinsburg

Volunteers will spruce up the donation drop-off area at Repurposed, a thrift store supporting Living In Liberty - an anti-human trafficking organization. This will include interior painting and assembling large donation bins. We will also make the outside more inviting by building and installing garden boxes and planting shrubs. Location: North Hills

Join us in cultivating care and connection at Veterans Place. Volunteers will help restore and tend the 18+ garden beds, creating a peaceful space that supports veterans on their journey toward stability, growth, and renewed purpose. Location: East Liberty

Help the Friends of South Side park to clear up the area near the Sterling Steps for planting. We will have about 50 trees to plant in that area - this is beginning of the final stretch that will need a clean up and initial planting this year! Location: South Side

Brighten the summer for children and adults with disabilities. Volunteer tasks will be focused on campus beautification such as landscaping, painting, debris cleanup, clearing nature trails, outdoor painting of facilities that need to be refreshed, and more. Volunteers needed: Location: Wexford

Volunteers will be cleaning and organizing, as well as working with some clothing donations. We may also be organizing their mobile boutiques! Location: Sharpsburg

Take flight to the National Aviary and host a field trip for Propel Schools. Each associate will be partnered with a student and venture through the Aviary to learn about birds from around the world. Location: North Side

Pack boxes, sort produce and process donations in a warehouse setting. Volunteers should be able to lift up to 25 pounds repeatedly for this activity. Closed-toe shoes are required. Volunteers may be in our temperature controlled Cool Zone which is maintained at 55 degrees. Please plan to bring an extra layer of clothing and a bottle of water. Location: Duquesne

We will pack 232 summer reading bag orders for every student in RIF’s Everybody Wins! mentoring program. Each volunteer will pack 6 specifically-selected books for each student, making their summer reading extra special. Location: North Side

Create a paint-by-numbers style canvas to be installed at a local charity. We will be guided by an instructor from a local paint studio! All artistic abilities are welcome. Location: 77 Hot Metal

Build a bouquet at the direction of Scent with Love to bring the joy of flowers to neighbors in need. Together we will build floral bouquets, learn about flowers and how Scent with Love works to repurpose event flowers to spread cheer. Location: 77 Hot Metal
