Flamenco Pittsburgh

What We Do

Since 2002, Flamenco Pittsburgh has created awareness and appreciation for flamenco music, song and dance for an inclusive community of students, professional artists, and patrons in the Pittsburgh area who share Hispanic heritage or a passion for global culture. Our programming celebrates flamenco’s roots in the Gitano (Roma) culture in 18th century Spain, and the rhythmic influence of marginalized cultures there – Jewish, North African, Indian, Islamic, and others. In a world of ever-increasing divisiveness, we use the exuberant folk tradition of flamenco to dignify historic and contemporary social struggles, express shared humanity, and unite people across differences. We offer a unique performance genre in the Pittsburgh region, adding to its cultural richness and diversity. More than just a dance organization, we are a cultural hub. Our mission encompasses education, performance, and community outreach.
