"Elves" at the Toys for Tots Warehouse

Expired

Description

Come spread holiday cheer to local children & families by working with the Pittsburgh Toys for Tots campaign! Depending on the day, volunteers at the toy warehouse may unload toys when they are delivered from collection sites, sort the toys for distribution, or"shop" and pack the gifts to be delivered to nonprofit agencies serving as distribution sites.

Oftentimes, the gifts received from Toys for Tots are the only presents area children will receive for the holiday, making your support vital to our success!

** Please note: due to the flexible nature of the work available at the warehouse, your project may end a bit ahead of schedule. The volunteer work we do in the warehouse depends on the incoming donations and outgoing shipments our volunteers help to pack. We are completely at the mercy of donations, and so we cannot always foresee what work will be available on a given day, but our team tries to ensure a full shift of service as best we can. **

What to Wear: Please wear comfortable, casual clothing that can get dirty. Volunteers MUST wear closed toe shoes. You are encouraged to dress in layers, as the Warehouse can be very chilly at times. Holiday attire is always welcome & encouraged!

Parking: Parking is available in the lot at the Warehouse location. Please park on the side of the building nearest the Toys for Tots entrance door and be mindful of employees of the building who have graciously donated their space. The full address of the Warehouse will be provided in the follow-up email upon signups.

Location: We are near the neighborhoods of Penn Hills/ Wilkinsburg/ Verona in Pittsburgh (intersection of Frankstown and Verona roads) if location determines if you are able to attend.

Additional Info: When you arrive, please come to the door on the left of the building furthest to the back. It will be marked with a holiday figure and say "Welcome Volunteers". A staffer will meet you there. Light refreshments will be provided (water, hot cocoa, snacks).

This project involves quite a bit of physical labor. Volunteers will be bending and lifting boxes of toys, bagging up toys and carrying filled bags of gifts. Accommodations can be made for those with physical limitations with advanced notice. Volunteers will be on their feet for the majority of the day.

Minimum age listed is 18 - please email us if you wish to bring younger children as they require adult chaperones.
