Come spread holiday cheer to local children & families by working with Toys for Tots Pittsburgh! Depending on the day, volunteers at the toy warehouse may unload toys when they are delivered from collection sites, sort the toys for distribution, or "shop" and pack the gifts to be delivered to nonprofit agencies serving as distribution sites to area children.
** Please note: due to the flexible nature of the work available at the warehouse, your project may end a bit ahead of schedule. The volunteer work we do in the warehouse depends on the incoming donations and outgoing shipments our volunteers help to pack. We are completely at the mercy of donations, and so we cannot always foresee what work will be available on a given day, but our team tries to ensure a full shift of service as best we can. **

What to Expect: Volunteers should expect to be on their feet for the majority of the day. If volunteers desire a less physically demanding task, please let us know by emailing us at info@pittsburghcares.org 3-5 days ahead of your project day so we can make sure we have an alternate task planned.
Volunteers will also have access to refreshments including coffee, water, and light snacks. We split days into two shifts - with a break between 12:30PM - 1:00PM. This enables our team to reset between shifts, and ensure that all volunteers have an enjoyable experience. Should volunteers be staying for a double shift, you will be able to leave for lunch and return, etc.
What to Wear: We recommend dressing in layers - as the Warehouse temperature can vary. While we use the term "Warehouse", we operate out of an office building that can get warm depending on how well the rooms are insulated with toys! Some volunteers will be inside their whole shift, while others may be helping at the loading dock where there are garage doors open to the outside. Holiday attire is always welcome and encouraged at the Toys for Tots Warehouse!
Parking/ Getting there: Free parking is available on-site. Due to safety, further directions will be emailed to you leading up to your shift a few days ahead of time.
