Each semester, we recruit a communications intern to help maintain the JASP’s communications and social media. The intern will help create and publish content to be posted on our various social media accounts, website and monthly newsletter.
This opportunity is mainly geared towards college students, but adults with daytime availability and interest are also encouraged to apply.
Qualities:
- Great written and oral communication skills
- Understanding of social media
- Experience writing for web and email newsletters
- Self-motivated with a willingness to work as a team
- Creative and detail oriented
- Interest and enthusiasm for the JASP’s mission and popular social media platforms
Responsibilities
- Update social media accounts with photos from recent JASP activities and events
- Maintain interaction with followers and build sustainable relationships
- Increase traffic by engaging audience in a creative, concise manner
- Log and update the JASP’s social media trends (# of followers, likes, etc.)
- Create monthly newsletters and content for website under the direction of the Executive Director
- Post relevant local events and Japan-related news
- Keep all platforms current
Eligibility
This internship is not limited to Japanese majors only, but a passion for Japan is a must. A strong interest in the inner-workings of a non-profit. Japanese language skills not required, but preferred. This is a part-time unpaid internship. Candidates should maintain a positive attitude, demonstrate a strong work ethic, and be comfortable with sharing ideas and working as a team in a professional setting.
